The Espadrille and Boat shoe

Why do shoes have all these funny names?  Driving, Derby, Oxford- really?? They are just shoes! My boyfriend amongst many other men are asking the same question.

Well today, I will be explaining and expressing my love for espadrilles and boat shoes. Espadrilles, once a peasants shoe, was often constructed in the village streets have become the raging footwear trend for men. If you haven’t already in this HK heat, its time to put aside the heavy sneakers or sleek work number for the lighter, more versatile and stylish espadrille. They can be worn from day to night, with chinos or shorts and if you see yourself as a style maverick- try them alongside a suit.

They are so simply and easy to incorporate into your wardrobe, available in different colours, with or without laces, high top, or lows, there is no reason not to have a pair.

I don’t own a boat, so why do I need a pair of boat shoes? Well boat shoes are still used by sailors, as the name suggests; however, since the 1980s they have become fashionable footwear, amongst none boat owning folk.

In my eyes if you are after a smart causal shoe, the boat shoe has over taken the loafer. Boat shoes literally go with everything, jeans, shorts, chinos, plaid shirts, polos and blazers.

Enjoy your new shoes!
